JOHN
B. FREEBORN
Jack was born in Chicago, Illinois, has practiced law in Dunedin,
Florida since 1957. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech (B.S. Engineering),
University of Illinois (M.S.) and Stetson College of Law (J.D). He
served as Vice President and Trust Officer for First National Bank
of Dunedin before entering private practice. Jack is Board Certified
in Wills, Trusts and Estates, is a Fellow of the American College
of Trusts and Estates Counsel, is a Member of the Clearwater Bar and
its Probate and Guardianship Law Committee, the American Bar Association
and the Florida Bar.
Jack has served
the needs of the community through both work and volunteer service.
Locally he served on the Board of the Morton Plant Mease Foundation,
the Executive Committee of the Financial Counseling Services for
Morton Plant Mease Foundation, the Institutional Review Board for
Mease Hospital, the Board of the Dunedin Fine Arts and Cultural
Center, is a former senior warden and vestry member of the Episcopal
Church of the Good Shepherd and served as secretary to the Board
of the Dunedin Country Club. In his leisure time, Jack enjoys painting,
golf, reading and travel.

JOHN
F. FREEBORN
John was born in Clearwater, Florida. He is a graduate of Haverford
College, Haverford, PA (B.A. Economics), Tulane University School of
Law, New Orleans, LA (J.D. with Honors), and New York University School
of Law (L.L.M. Taxation) and is licensed in Florida and New York. John
practiced in the Trusts and Estates Department of a New York law firm
before returning to Florida in 1992 to join his father’s practice.
John is Board Certified in Wills, Trusts and Estates. He is a member
of the Florida Bar, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York,
the Clearwater Bar and its Probate and Guardianship Law Committee.
John has served
on several Boards in Pinellas County including the Executive Committee
of the Financial Counseling Services for Morton Plant Mease Foundation
Health Care, Dunedin Rotary Foundation, the Community Redevelopment
Agency Advisory Board for the City of Dunedin, and the Dunedin Fine
Arts Center. John is a past President of the Dunedin Rotary Club.
In his leisure time, John enjoys projects in his 1920’s home,
gardening, and travel.

ALISON
K. FREEBORN
Alison was born in Clearwater, Florida. She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke
College, South Hadley, MA (A.B. History, 1987), and the University of
Wisconsin Law School, Madison, WI (J.D., 1990). Alison is licensed to
practice in the states of Wisconsin, Illinois and Florida. Alison practiced
in the Litigation Department of McDermott, Will & Emery, a large
Chicago law firm, and later Burke, Bosselman & Weaver, a litigation
boutique firm, before joining the family firm in 1994. She is a member
of the Florida Bar, State Bar of Wisconsin, the Clearwater Bar and its
Probate and Guardianship Law Committee and the National Academy of Elder
Law Attorneys.
Alison lives in
Clearwater with her two young children who keep her busy when she
is out of the office. She enjoys gardening, tennis, swimming, reading
and going to the beach. Alison is very active in the local community
through volunteer work and her children’s activities. She is
a Past President of the Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin (2003-2004),
a past Board member of the Dunedin North Rotary Club, a member of
the Finance Committee of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd
in Dunedin, and a member of the Festival of Trees committee to benefit
Hospice and UPARC.

Our
Staff |
Shirley Kirkland, our receptionist and
bookkeeper, has been with the firm for over 25 years. She is typically
the first person you will meet or talk to from our office and will
help direct you to the person that can best assist you. Shirley also
handles general office matters for the firm.
Sharon Benson, our probate and trust administration
legal assistant, has worked for Freeborn & Freeborn for almost
ten years. Sharon’s extensive experience in handling a variety
of estates has given her the skills to help expedite the process,
anticipate issues and best represent the personal representative
or trustee through the administration. From the opening papers through
the final accounting and discharge, Sharon effectively assists our
clients and addresses their needs and concerns.
Sallie Skinner, our legal assistant in estate
planning and real estate, has been with the firm since 1997. Sallie
handles the processing of estate planning documents, general files
and correspondence and our real estate closing preparation.
Mary Frances Warford, whose nickname is “Harold”,
is our legal assistant in fiduciary services, assisting our clients
with bill paying and payroll and other needs related to their personal
care. Harold’s role is critical in providing our homebound
clients the professional services and attention they require as
needed and directed by the client or their fiduciary.
Karen Robertson recently joined our staff and
comes with over 15 years of legal assistant experience. She works
in the areas of real estate, estate and trust administration and
guardianships and is a welcome addition to our staff.
